Yall… let me tell you, when I first started talking about moving to Africa, folks thought I had lost my mind. They couldn’t understand why I’d leave the comfort of drive-thrus, gas stations on every corner, fast food joints, and all those restaurants like Red Lobster, Bonefish Grill, Olive Garden, and Houston’s. And what about the movie theaters, bowling alleys, skating rinks, and amusement parks like Six Flags?

Yes, I left the U.S. And NO… I wasn’t out of my mind. I’m perfectly sane and balanced. But now that I’ve been living in Africa since 2022, do I regret it? Well, I have a couple of regrets. The first part is, NO, I do not regret moving to Africa. What I regret is not moving sooner.
We’ve been fed so many negative images about Africa, the Motherland, that many people are turned off by the thought of living here. They think Africa is nothing but poverty, huts, potbellied kids with flies all around. These stereotypes are mostly false. Of course, it depends on the country you’re looking at, but Africa has so many beautiful countries and cities. The infrastructure is impressive and sometimes surprising. Bridges and interstates are well-built, and many cities have decent healthcare, grocery stores, and eateries just like back in the West. Sure, some countries might lack certain amenities, but that’s true anywhere.
My second regret about moving to Africa? Not starting my online business before I relocated. One piece of advice I give everyone now is to start an online business before you move anywhere in the world. You always want to keep money flowing in, even if it’s just a little. Over time, a little money adds up.
We had plans to start businesses here in Ghana or Gambia, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. If I had my online business up and running before I moved, I’d have a steady stream of income by now. that’s why I wrote this book, “100+ Online Jobs for Aspiring Expats Before Relocating.” It’s for those thinking about leaving the US or UK because of the high cost of living, soaring rent rates, and lack of job opportunities. The global economy has made it tough for many talented and hardworking people to make ends meet. If that sounds like you, this book is for you.
So, if you’re thinking about relocating to Africa, get this book. It’ll give you over 100 ideas for online jobs you can start before leaving the US or UK. If you’re getting a retirement check, honey, you’re golden and can live like a queen in Africa.
